One-to-one hybrid training in morphology-based acne-scar treatment, integrating CROSS, subcision, laser resurfacing and injectables into safe, individualised treatment plans.
Atrophic acne scarring rarely consists of a single scar type. Rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars, tethering, volume loss and surface irregularities frequently coexist, with each component requiring a different treatment approach.
This one-to-one course teaches you how to assess individual scar morphology and build a structured treatment plan using CROSS, subcision, fractional or full-field laser resurfacing and selected injectable treatments. The emphasis is on understanding when and why each modality should be used, how treatments can be combined or staged, and when a particular procedure is unlikely to provide meaningful benefit.
During the hybrid practical component, you will assess and map a selected patient’s scars, develop a treatment plan and perform appropriate parts of the procedure under direct supervision. The mentor will demonstrate or perform the more technically demanding components. The exact combination of procedures will always be determined by the patient’s scar morphology, skin type and safety considerations.
1. Understanding acne-scar morphology: Rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars; tethering, scar depth, edge characteristics, volume loss, erythema and pigmentation. Clinical examination, palpation, photography, scar mapping and assessment of active acne.
2. Building a multimodal treatment plan: Indications and limitations of CROSS, subcision, CO₂ and Er:YAG resurfacing and injectable treatments. Selecting, sequencing and combining procedures according to scar morphology, skin type, downtime and patient expectations.
3. Anatomy, anaesthesia and procedural safety: Relevant facial anatomy and danger areas, local anaesthesia, safe dosing, field and nerve blocks, aseptic technique, laser and ocular safety and strategies for reducing post-inflammatory pigmentation and other complications.
4. Patient assessment and treatment planning: Consultation with a selected patient, scar classification and mapping, photography, consent, anaesthesia planning and development of an individualised treatment strategy.
5. Hybrid practical treatment: The mentor will demonstrate selected techniques, after which the participant will perform appropriate CROSS, subcision, laser resurfacing or injectable components under direct supervision. The practical combination will be adapted to the clinical indications of the selected patient.
6. Aftercare and complication management: Expected recovery and follow-up after combined procedures. Prevention, recognition and management of bruising, haematoma, infection, prolonged erythema, pigmentary changes, delayed healing, nodules, scarring and other modality-specific complications.
7. Treatment review and Q&A: Review of the treatment choices, sequencing, parameters and clinical endpoints, followed by individual case discussion and questions.

Previous experience with at least one relevant procedural field, such as lasers, injectables or minor dermatologic surgery
Basic familiarity with local anaesthesia and aseptic technique is recommended
Previous experience with CROSS or subcision is not required
